The honest guide to dental implant costs in 2026

Why do implant prices vary so much?

A single tooth implant can be quoted anywhere from £1,200 to £4,500 in the UK. That's a bewildering range, and it deserves an honest explanation.

The variation comes down to several factors: the experience and training of the clinician, the quality of the implant components used, what's included in the headline price, and whether you're seeing a generalist or an implant surgeon. Cheap implants from inexperienced clinicians carry a significantly higher failure risk — and a failed implant that needs removing and replacing costs considerably more than a quality one placed correctly in the first place.

The cheapest quote is rarely the best value. The question to ask isn't "how little can I pay?" but "what am I actually getting for my money?"

What should be included in a proper quote?

A fair, transparent quote should include: the implant fixture itself, the abutment (the connector piece), the crown, any necessary X-rays or 3D scanning, the surgical procedure, and follow-up appointments. Always ask what isn't included. Some practices quote only for the implant and add components separately.

At Pure Implant Health, every written quote covers all components, the procedure, and follow-up care. There are no additions after the plan is agreed.

How does finance actually work?

Finance for dental treatment in the UK is regulated consumer credit. You'll typically apply online, get a decision quickly, and if approved, sign a credit agreement. The practice receives payment, you pay the lender in monthly instalments.

0% finance means you pay exactly the treatment cost — nothing more — spread over the agreed term. Interest-bearing finance will cost more overall but can make monthly payments smaller. We always show both options transparently so you can make an informed choice.

Is it worth the cost compared to alternatives?

A denture costs less upfront but typically needs replacing every 5–8 years, requires adhesive, can affect eating and speaking, and does nothing to prevent the jawbone loss that follows tooth loss. A bridge preserves appearance but involves grinding down healthy adjacent teeth. An implant does none of those things and is designed to last a lifetime. Over 20 years, the total cost is often similar or lower — but the quality of life difference is significant.
