Carl Horton
Carl is a passionate advocate for patient-centred care who has dedicated his career to advancing implant dentistry on a global scale. Since graduating from Birmingham Dental Hospital in 1996 he has placed over 5,000 implants across 10 partner practices, earned dual MSc degrees in Periodontology and Implantology, and lectured internationally in San Francisco, Gothenburg and Athens.
He serves as Co-Director of the West Midlands MSc VSSA in Dental Implantology and lectures part-time at UCLan University. Outside dentistry, he’s a dedicated triathlete, Ironman finisher, and coaches both youth and adult athletes.
Kate brings 36+ years of experience in dentistry and has worked alongside Carl since 2015. As a former Nationwide Ambassador for Patient Care Coordinators, she has trained implant coordinators across the country and set benchmarks for excellence in patient experience.
She handles every aspect of the patient journey that isn’t the surgery itself — first contact, scheduling, finance, communication, and ongoing support. She is also an Education Lead for VSSA and drives the growth of the business across all partner practices.

Questions patients always ask
Carl visits partner dental practices on a fortnightly rota. When you enquire, we find the nearest partner to you and arrange your consultation there. All treatment takes place at that same local practice. Between visits, your regular dental team is available for day-to-day support. You get surgeon-level care without travelling to a distant clinic.
Most patients are genuinely surprised by how comfortable the procedure is. Implant placement is carried out under local anaesthetic so you won’t feel pain during treatment. Mild soreness for a few days afterwards is normal and easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief. The vast majority of our patients rate the experience as far less daunting than they expected.
With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. The titanium implant fuses permanently with your jawbone. The crown on top may need replacing after 15–20 years, but the implant itself should remain stable indefinitely with good oral hygiene and regular check-ups.
Most healthy adults are suitable. The main requirements are sufficient bone density, healthy gums and good general health. Conditions like diabetes or a history of smoking can affect healing but don’t automatically rule out implants. We assess every patient individually at the free consultation and always give an honest answer.
A single implant typically takes 3–6 months from placement to final crown. Because Carl visits fortnightly, we build your treatment schedule around this rota from the start so you always know exactly when each stage will take place. We give you a personalised timeline upfront with no surprises.
Often we can still help. Bone grafting and sinus lift procedures can rebuild the bone needed for implants. We assess bone levels precisely using 3D scanning and give you an honest view of what’s possible. We won’t proceed with treatment that isn’t clinically appropriate — but we always explore every option first.
Implants are a permanent surgical solution that replaces the tooth root, not just the crown. They preserve the jawbone, don’t affect adjacent teeth, and are designed to last a lifetime. While the upfront cost is higher, the long-term value is considerably better — no replacements every 5–10 years. Our finance options make the monthly cost very manageable for most patients.
